Kate: What are you doing here with Locke?
Sawyer: I'm not with him.
Kate: Yeah,you are, James.
Sawyer: Then what are you doing with Jack?
Kate: I went with jack because I believe he can get us off this island.
Sawyer: Then I guess that's the difference between us. I ain't lookin' to leave.
Kate:Why not?
Sawyer: 'Cause I ain't got nothin' back there for me.
Kate: And what's here that's so much better?
Sawyer: Why do you wanna go back,kate? Seem to recall you being shuttled off to jail before we landed here. So if you think there's anything waitin' for you back home other than handcuffs, then you really don'know how the world works. I mean, look around us, freckles. We got roofs over our heads... electricity, showers, beds.
Kate: How long, Sawyer? How long do you think we can play house?
Sawyer: Why don't we find out?

Sawyer: Kinda weird,ain't it? Sittin' on porches, drinking coffee out of mugs. Anyway, I found some clothes about your size. Hung 'em in a closet. So after I kick out Hugo...
Kate: I'm not moving in with you, James.
Sawyer: Well... then why did you stay?
Kate: That's none of your business.
Sawyer: Oh, you got a secret agenda,huh? Well, if you're spying for Jack...
Kate: I'm not spying for anyone.
Sawyer: So why don't you tell me...
Kate: Because I don't trust you.
Sawyer: This is about the pregnancy thing.
Kate: James...
Sawyer: Yeah?
Kate: Go home.
Sawyer: Okay, fine. See you later,then.

Kate: Can I come in?
Sawyer: Sure. I believe you know my roommate.
Kate: Hi, Hurley.
Hurley: Hey, Kate. [Hurley winks at Sawyer]
Sawyer: Got somethin' in your eye, Hugo? [to Kate] Why don't we talk in the kitchen? [Sawyer gets a Dharma Red Wine box] I know it's in a box,but,uh... it's pretty damn good wine. I tested it. So how's the life at casa de Claire? Baby Aaron keeping you up all night?
Kate: No. No,he's a good sleeper.
Sawyer: Good for you. You are terrible at this, Freckles.
Kate: Terrible at what?
Sawyer: You already said you didn't stay behind for me. So at least be woman enough to tell me you wanna use me for somethin'.
Kate: I wanna use you for somethin'.
Sawyer: See? Wasn't that hard. For what?
Kate: For ben. I want you to help me bust him out.

[Kate enters Sawyer's bedroom. He's in bed reading] Sawyer: Oh, hey, Freckles. You okay? Look, I'm sorry I couldn't do nothin'. I wanted him to think that you fooled me, too. No sense in him not trusting both of us.
Kate: He wants me gone by tomorrow.
Sawyer: What, he... banished you? Well,I un-banish you. You can stay right...[he take her shoes off] here. This is my house. [they hear a flush] Okay, me and Montezuma's house. You're gonna be all right. I'll keep you safe.
[They kiss]

[Kate wakes Sawyer up with kisses. They are making out in bed]
Kate: Wait, wait. Wait... Just-slow down. Slow.
Sawyer: Oh, come on. It's not like we ain't never done it before. Yeah, I'm cool we didn't go all the way last night. I get it. You were sad. But,I mean,how can you resist after that whole,"I'll keep you safe" thing?
Kate: No. Sawyer... just...
Sawyer: What? What? What'd I say?
Kate: Just... forget it. Sawyer: Oh, right. You still think you might be pregnant.
Kate: I'm not worried. And i'm not pregnant.
Sawyer: Are you sure?
Kate: Yeah, I'm sure.
Sawyer: [he appears to be very happy] I mean... whoo!
Kate: Would it have been the worst thing in the world?
Sawyer: Yes! Yes, it would've been the worst thing in the world. What would we have done with a baby?
Kate: I'm going back to the beach.
Sawyer: Beach? What, you're leavin' because of this? That's that? You crawl up in my bed one second, the next,you're just...
Kate: Good-bye, James.
Sawyer: Don't make this about me, Kate. You didn't want a baby any more than I did. You're just lookin' for some excuse to split, and now you got one. Well that's all right, freckles. I ain't gonna hold it against ya. I'm just gonna sit right here in my comfy bed, because in about a week, you'll find some reason to get pissed at Jack and bounce right back to me.
[Kate slaps him hard in the face and leaves the room]
